If you’re an energetic go-getter, with experience in health/community support, specifically supporting people with spinal cord injury or traumatic brain injury you have just won the job lottery!

Life Plus is seeking an energetic support worker to support a mischievous and warm-natured 9-year-old boy, who likes to be involved in his environment – on an active farm on top of a hill, with his parents. Communicating with his eyes and gorgeous smile, you will be supporting him in his full and active life.

This happy young boy requires frequent suctioning as he has difficulty in swallowing his saliva, so there is assisted ventilation at night and nebulisers twice a day with food and medication via tube.

Job Description

In a purpose-designed room with the latest technology, his room also has a comfy lazy-boy for his support worker. He is easily disturbed at night so monitoring is also done via CCTV in his room.

Aside from supporting his clinical needs, the suitable support worker must be prepared to get out and about in the farm with his special buggy, petting animals as well as reading books and playing games with him. He also has a love of cars and trucks and generally enjoys getting creative. This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to make a real difference in his life every day – Keeping things fun and upbeat whilst providing the highest level of care.

Due to the nature of the client’s disability, you will need to have:
• Experience assisting people with Cerebal Palsy
• Experience with peg feeding / GJ Tube Feeding
• Hoist and manual handling experience
• Full Drivers Licence
• Ability to drive a mobility van is a plus!
• Valid work visa in New Zealand
• Ability to work long shifts and possibly during the weekends
